Nelson Cultural Center Grand Opening
American Swedish Institute's Nelson Cultural Center Custom Tile
Saturday, June 30, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
At American Swedish Institute, 2600 Park Avenue, Minneapolis, MN
The grand opening of the Nelson Cultural Center will be the official public opening of the addition to the Turnblad Mansion. North Prairie’s tile designer, Charlie Henrikson will make a presentation during the opening regarding the inspiration and collaboration and process of making custom tile installed at the Nelson Cultural Center.

Tile Replication-The Big Challenge by Roger L. Mayland
The Clay Technology Magazine, December/January issue; at the request of the editor of the magazine of the International Clay Technology Association: authored an article that chronicles the increased use of ceramic tile in the U.S. over the past 160 years and differentiated the differences between batch kiln production (handmade and small production tile) and roller-hearth kiln production (commercial tile); identified batch kiln production tile as the ceramic tile that can and is being replicated and identified the challenges and implications of not being able to replicate commercially produced tile.
