Nelson Cultural Center Grand Opening
American Swedish Institute's Nelson Cultural Center Custom Tile
Saturday, June 30, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
At American Swedish Institute, 2600 Park Avenue, Minneapolis, MN

The grand opening of the Nelson Cultural Center will be the official public opening of the addition to the Turnblad Mansion. North Prairie’s tile designer, Charlie Henrikson will make a presentation during the opening regarding the inspiration and collaboration and process of making custom tile installed at the Nelson Cultural Center.


7th Annual Arts & Crafts Chicago Show and Sales

Saturday, June 2nd, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Sunday, June 3rd, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm;
At Concordia University, in River Forest, IL.

North Prairie Tileworks’ Roger L. Mayland will be showing and selling their Arts & Crafts tiles including some of their latest relief tiles and answering questions. The Chicago Arts & Crafts show has become an important show for people interested in the Arts & Crafts or interested in remodeling or building with A&C design and materials.

Annual Artisan & Restoration Fair

South Minneapolis Housing Fair

North Prairie Tileworks will be participating as an exhibitor at the South Minneapolis Housing Fair at the South High School in the Common Area along with 50 other exhibitors. We will bring our design and installation book and be able to discuss your need for some special tile for your home.


12th Annual Twin Cities Arts & Crafts Annual Show and Sale

September 24, 2011; Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

September 25, 2011; Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

North Prairie Tileworks will be a participating exhibitor at the Progress Center Building at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, MN; This annual show features over 50 vendors from around the country specializing in the Arts & Crafts furniture, metalwork, pottery, textiles, art, lighting and more.


10th Annual Minnesota Tile Festival-Discover American Art Tile

September 16, 2011; Friday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

September 17, 2011; Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At the Midtown Global Market, 920 East Lake Street; Minneapolis

This annual tile festival will feature over 40 tile artists from around the country including North Prairie Tileworks. We will be displaying some of our newest pieces as well as some of our most popular pieces of tile which will be available for sale. Due to the construction at the American-Swedish Mansion the annual tile festival will be hosted at nearby Midtown Global Market with all its great eateries.

Tile Replication-The Big Challenge by Roger L. Mayland

The Clay Technology Magazine, December/January issue; at the request of the editor of the magazine of the International Clay Technology Association: authored an article that chronicles the increased use of ceramic tile in the U.S. over the past 160 years and differentiated the differences between batch kiln production (handmade and small production tile) and roller-hearth kiln production (commercial tile); identified batch kiln production tile as the ceramic tile that can and is being replicated and identified the challenges and implications of not being able to replicate commercially produced tile.
